Beyond the feed: why timing matters more than reach
The most valuable conversation is not always the largest one. For an expert, a relevant post discovered at the right moment can matter more than thousands of passive impressions.
Reach is easy to count, so it becomes the default goal. But experts do not need everyone to see every contribution. They need the right people to notice them when a relevant problem is active.
One relevant reply at the moment of need can create more commercial value than a week of generic visibility.
Your feed is not the whole market
A feed is shaped by previous engagement, existing connections, and popular content. It is not designed to reveal every niche conversation where your knowledge may be useful. Important posts can remain two or three network steps away.
What good timing looks like
- The author is still actively responding and refining the problem.
- The discussion has enough context for a useful contribution but has not become crowded.
- Your expertise connects directly to the decision, constraint, or risk being discussed.
Optimise for useful proximity
The goal is not to appear everywhere. It is to be usefully present near the conversations that shape decisions in your market. That requires broader discovery, sharper relevance, and the discipline to contribute before promoting.
